Still Waters At Sunset

12/25/16 – Still Waters – Lake Drummond / Great Dismal Swamp, Virginia: A lone Bald Cypress stands 75 feet offshore catching the very last rays of the days sun. The cobalt blue sky fades to deep orange, pinks and reds near the earth as the sun is nearly below the far opposite horizon at sunset. The few clouds that remain over the lake turn iridescent pinks and oranges. Below, the almost glasslike surface of the water belies the stiff 15-20MPH winds coming off the lake, while creating near mirror like reflections. It is about as quite here as anywhere on earth. The only sounds are occasional sounds of various birds that call this lake and this enormous great swamp home. #lakedrummond #greatdismalswamp #loveva #virginiacities #virginiaisbeautiful #nature #virginiastate_photos #vawildlife #visitvabeach
